Linax Natural cladding and laths

Naturum is a public building for exhibitions, beautifully located close to Läckö Castle. In Lake Vänern’s coastline right next to the magnificent Läckö Castle, there is a Naturum dedicated to Swedens Crown Princess Victoria and therefore also bears the name “The Victoria House”. The building was inaugurated in 2013 and over the years the cladding has got a weather grey tone, but despite heavy “wear and tear” with upwards of 100,000 visitors per year, Naturum Vänerskärgården, both building and piers are in “super fine” condition according to Jan Malmgren, CEO of Läckö Castle and Naturum Vänerskärgården.

The architecture for Naturum Vänerskärgården is both caring of the surroundings and modern at the same time. The cladding in wooden laths in the facade have proven to be a sustainable and climate-smart choice as the facade has withstood the sometimes harsh weather at Vänerstranden. The client and architect have demonstrated great accuracy in the selection of materials for the construction of Naturum Vänerskärgården, and the wooden laths and outdoor environments reflect both the natural environment and permanent choices that must withstand both weather conditions and a high level of visitors. Naturum Vänerskärgården also won the Swedish Wood Protection Award 2022.
