On Hyllie Stationsväg in Malmö, just a stone’s throw from the Emporia shopping center, one of the region’s most exciting urban development projects is currently taking shape – Drivbänken. An office building, certainly – but above all a meeting place for collaboration, creativity, and new ways of working.

Construction began in March 2023 and the project is being developed by Granitor Properties, with Wingårdhs Architects responsible for the design. The vision is clear: Drivbänken is intended to be a place that encourages encounters, the exchange of ideas, and presence – both indoors and outdoors.

Here, offices and coworking spaces coexist with showrooms, a restaurant and café – and Malmö City’s new library will also move into the building. Occupancy is planned for the second quarter of 2025, and the building’s structural frame in climate-improved concrete is already largely complete.

“When we talk about Drivbänken, we are talking about a meeting place defined by openness and collaboration. A large outdoor staircase with greenery and seating will make it natural to work, meet, or enjoy lunch in the sun.”

– Maria Ekström, Granitor Properties

Linax Grey contributes to the natural and welcoming atmosphere that is central to the project’s design – especially in combination with level changes and green spaces that frame the terraced environments.

Drivbänken is part of a larger initiative in Hyllie, where seven properties are being developed with a focus on the sharing economy, sustainability, and social spaces – brought together under the initiative Embassy of Sharing.
