Bitus launches Thermo – heat-treated wood.

To meet the market’s need for sustainable building materials, Bitus is launching a new range of wood protection consisting of heat-treated wood.

Bitus has started production and sales of heat-treated wood. The investment means continued development towards more highly refined products in wood protection and a clearer focus on project sales to customers who value aesthetically pleasing wood products with an attractive sustainability profile. Heat-treated wood is an alternative wood protection and complements Bitus’ existing products, which consist of both pressure-impregnated, linseed oil-treated and fire-protected wood.

Heat treatment means that the wood raw material is heated, which results in the material’s properties being improved. The treatment makes the wood more resistant to moisture, mold, insects and rot, at the same time it gives the wood a unique dark brown color and also provides increased dimensional stability. Heat treatment of wood is a proven and sustainable method that does not require any chemical additives.

Heat-treated wood provides good protection against moisture and rot, which makes it suitable for use in outdoor structures such as for example on facades, for wooden decks and similar applications. It is also possible to combine heat treatment with a fire protection treatment.
