At Astrid Lindgren’s World, the choice of materials is an important part of the overall experience. The park’s environments are designed to transport visitors into Astrid Lindgren’s stories, which means that everything from buildings to the smallest details needs to feel authentic and fit naturally into the period and setting being portrayed.
When Linax was selected for parts of the park, both environmental considerations and the visual expression were important. Astrid Lindgren’s World actively works to choose materials that support the park’s environmental ambitions while also reinforcing the genuine character of the different settings.
“We want to choose environmentally responsible products while creating authentic environments that reflect the period in which the stories are set,” says Jocke Johansson, CEO of Astrid Lindgren’s World.
Today, Linax is used in several areas throughout the park, including stepped seating and audience areas. Here, the natural expression of the wood helps the structures feel like an integral part of the surroundings rather than modern additions.
For Astrid Lindgren’s World, the overall aesthetic is essential. The materials need to work in harmony with the architecture, landscape and storytelling to create the right atmosphere for visitors.
The experience with Linax has so far been positive in terms of appearance, durability and maintenance. Although the material has not yet been in place for a great many years, it has performed well in the park’s environments, which is why Astrid Lindgren’s World has continued to use it in additional areas.
“Linax creates a much more authentic feel than traditional pressure-treated timber. For us, it is extremely important that the materials blend naturally into the surroundings. It is absolutely essential to the overall experience.”
