Bitus is a proud supplier of decking in Linax Natural to Anja and Filippa’s dream house. The aspiration was for the decking to have a natural grey colour that requires little maintenance and is also a sustainable and environmentally friendly choice.
A project with the focus on sustainability and with the aim of using timber raw material as far as possible. Anja and Filippa have worked with VARG architects to design the beautiful residence on the Norrland coast. Just 30 minutes outside of Umeå, right by the sea.

The goal was to build a healthy house and demonstrate that you can build sustainably without cutting down on comfort and luxury, while serving as a role model, contributing to a greater demand for sustainable construction and moving forward more quickly.
Anja and Filippa had been looking for a plot of land to build a holiday home on for some time, and when they found their dream site and were going to completely renovate the site, there was no alternative but to build with care and responsibility.
“We love challenges and we love to show that it is possible to renovate and build new structures with respect for the future and the next generation,” says Anja.

Over the years there has been a lot of renovation work, which has provided
a lot of experience. Interest in building is a driving force.
“We’re involved in most things, but it’s also because we love to build and be an active part of the project,” says Filippa.

“We want to build sustainably, environmentally friendly and in a climate-smart way”.

The house began its construction in 2021 and was competed in February 2022. Part two started once the snow had melted and the ground frost had dissipated at the beginning of May 2022. Material choices are important, and a lot of time has been spent searching around and reading about sustainable choices. This was also the case when they were looking for a good alternative for the decking.

“It was important for us not to have ordinary pressure-treated timber, and in the search for viable alternatives we discovered Bitus Linax decking,” says Filippa.

As a unique supplier on the Swedish market, Bitus was able to offer a decking with wood preservation treatment in Linax. The decking has double wood preservation with a 50-year rot protection warranty, which makes it a really sustainable option over time. But what makes Linax both a moisture-repellent and sustainable choice? First, the decking is protected against decay in compliance with NTR AB and the timber then is cooked in a hot linseed oil. The result is a dried decking that withstands moisture effectively, while the oil encapsulates the wood reservation in the decking in an environmentally friendly way.

“We love challenges and we love to show that it is possible to renovate and build new structures with respect for the future and the next generation”.
